😁You have learned so much in the past few weeks! You are now able to recite the alphabet, you can introduce yourself to French people, and you can let them know how you feel. Before we go any further, let's master our skills.

1-    French Letters:

H – is silent in French:❗L’hĂŽpital, le hot dog, l’hĂŽtel, heureux, les haricots, etc
.R – Let’s now work on the letter R:

-  Say “È”
-  Then close your throat with the very back for your tongue
-  Release and let the air out

As you can see, the letter R is not produced from the center of the tongue like in English, or the tip of the tongue like in Spanish, but the sound comes from the very back of the tongue.
❗Merci, de rien, Bonjour, heureux, froide, surprise, au revoir, etc.

U – And last but not least, the letter “U”

-  Start by saying the sound “iiiiiiii” by locking your teeth together
-  Then crisp your lips and make a small circle while continuing to say “”iiiiiiii”. Your tongue should go behind your lower teeth.
-  Say “U” while keeping the position.
❗Salut! mur, je suis, la pluie, je suis surprise, une femme, etc.

3-    How to ask questions
Let’s see how questions are structured in French.

Comment ça va? - How are you?
“Comment” means “how”, and “ça va” literally means: “is it going”. It is the informal way to ask how a person is doing. You can also remove “comment” and say:
"Ca va?",  “Comment vas-tu?” or “Comment tu vas?”

Comment t’appelles-tu? – What is your name?
Just like English, the verb comes before the pronoun, but the French also say: “Comment tu t’appelles?” and emphasize on the (?)

Es-tu française? – Are you French?
Here again, the verb comes before the pronoun, but the French also say: “Tu es française?”

Aimes-tu la pluie? – Do you like the rain?
Same here and you will also hear: “Tu aimes la pluie?”

Note that the French do not translate “Do you + verb” but they use “est-ce-que” (pronounced "es keu"). It translates as: “Is it that
..”

Are you American?
Becomes:
Est-ce que vous ĂȘtes amĂ©ricains?
Vous ĂȘtes amĂ©ricains?
Êtes-vous amĂ©ricains?
