How can artists contribute to our perceptions of social, political, issues, war and conflict when we receive so much of our information via the media and internet? 

Gary Embury (http://reportager.uwe.ac.uk) is an illustrator and senior lecturer at the University of the West of England. He is editor in chief of the online journal www.reportager.org
He has made work for many clients including The Saturday Times, Telegraph, The Guardian, New Scientist, Radio Times, Aardman Animation, Penguin books, British Telecom, Barclays bank amongst many other editorial, publishing and advertising clients.
He is also involved in reportage drawing and promotes the discipline through the online journal reportager.org. He is currently working on an on-going drawing project at the Bristol bike project and co-delivers a drawing residency with the Topolski Studio in London.
Drawing has always underpinned his practice especially primary on the spot drawing. He is also currently developing work using mixed media, appropriated imagery, collage, montage, painting drawing and digital media.
