Hockey Canada President and CEO Scott Smith speaks to reporters following his appearance at the heritage committee as it continues its study on Hockey Canada's handling of 2018 sexual assault allegations involving members of the national junior team. He responds to the organization's admission that it has paid out $7.6M to nine sexual assault victims since 1989. He also comments on calls from some MPs on the committee for his resignation as president and CEO of Hockey Canada. The meeting comes amid recent revelations that Hockey Canada used a fund maintained by registration fees to pay for uninsured liabilities, including sexual assault claims. The national governing body for hockey has since announced that it will no longer use the fund to settle sexual assault claims.
