Mayor of Toronto, John Tory, joined by Dr. Eileen De Villa, Toronto’s medical officer of health, and Chief Matthew Pegg, Fire Chief & General Manager of Emergency Management in Toronto are expected to provide the daily COVID-19 update on 3:45 pm ET.

John Tory will attend in person after finishing his 14-day isolation period after a business trip to London, England.

Dr. De Villa said during Wednesday's briefing that there are now 319 cases of COVID-19 in Toronto with an increase of 39 new cases since Tuesday.

In addition, Chief Matthew Pegg said the city will be closing all city parks and playgrounds, among other amenities in Toronto to fight the spread of the virus, effective immediately.

Mayor John Tory has declared state of emergency in Toronto earlier this week after the city recorded the first death related to COVID-19.
