​With more than 25 years of extensive experience in the martial arts and self-defense, Mr. Borter created ABC Women’s Self-Defense to fill a need for a functional, practical, and easy to learn women’s self-protection and empowerment program. Currently taught in 14 countries, this program has been widely taught to thousands of women and is a fun, popular, and critically acclaimed program.

He holds the rank of 6th degree Black Belt and the title of "Professor" in the martial arts and holds Black Belt ranks in a number of martial arts including Modern Jujitsu, Small Circle Jujitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, and Kyusho-Jitsu. He is a certified Full Instructor in the Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association, holds certifications in Filipino and Chinese Locking Principles, Kuntao Kali, and Instructor Certifications in Military Combatives and Police Defensive Tactics. He is a Certified Instructor for Raven Tactical Systems International, an Instructor and Study group Leader for SAMI Combat Systems International, and a Certified Master Instructor and the US Representative for KEAT Tactical Ops, a world-renowned defensive tactics and security organization. He is the Director and Head Instructor of the PressurePoint Self-Defense (PPSD) System and PressurePoint Defense Tactics (PPDT) Systems, offers instruction and certification for law enforcement and civilians in the use of the Kubotan Self-Defense Keychain, and is an internationally recognized self-defense instructor. In 1997, Mr. Borter was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame for "Outstanding Contributions to the Martial Arts".​
