How do we discuss and share our experiences of climate change and environmental campaigning? How can we develop an alternative space, outside the mainstream news and media systems to make space for listening, empathy and caring? What are the kinds of conversations that we need to be having about environmental sustainability, resilience and social justice? These are just some of the issues that I spoke about with Sarah Shaw, Aasia Bora and Zina Zetter. We discussed how we can use community media platforms to support awareness of issues that we not only care about, but which we actively care for, and how this might impact on our future local, national and international politics. Climate Action Leicester and Leicestershire is a group of people living in Leicester and Leicestershire who are terrified and inspired by the climate crisis and climate justice and are working together to address these issues.
