Earlier in the week I had a conversation with Sharmeen Suleman, who is the programming co-ordinator for this year’s Ramadan Radio broadcasts in Leicester. We discussed how community radio can be a great way to alleviate social anxiety, by providing companionship and allowing people to discuss and share their experiences within their neighbourhoods, regardless of faith, age, social status.

As the station gets read for Ramadan, Sharmeen told me how volunteers from all parts of Leicester’s many communities can get involved in the station, and what they might expect to be able to do, both on-air and in supporting roles helping run things and make the broadcasts happen. Find out more information on the Ramdan Radio LinkedIn page.
