Johnny Perez is the Director of U.S. Prison Program for the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, a membership organization committed to ending U.S.-sponsored torture, and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment. He is also a poet and fashion aficionado. Johnny is someone who spent 13 years in prison—his entire 20’s. In this episode, we traveled through Johnny’s old neighborhood in the Bronx, NY and spoke about his journey from Cuba as a child immigrant. This conversation, as Johnny describes, “felt personal yet comfortable...more than past interviews.”
