There was no briefing today, but that didn’t stop the president from engaging reporters on two occasions.
President Trump claimed the US would be able to perform more than 5 millions tests per day “in the near future.” Though yesterday task force members said it hoped to complete 8 million tests in the month of May. The White House declined to clarify the president’s comment.
Vice President Pence declined to wear a face covering while touring the Mayo Clinic. He later explained that he recently tested negative for covid-19 and wanted to look patients and staff in the eye.
Dr. Ali Khan, dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska, is Major’s guest tonight. He said the administration’s testing proposal, unveiled yesterday, does not go far enough.
