Goodnight, Astronaut: Sleeping Among the Stars with Scott Kelly

Retired astronaut, former military fighter pilot, test pilot, engineer, and retired U.S. Navy Captain Scott Kelly has seen - and slept in - more places than most. He is a veteran of four space flights and the International Space Station’s former commander on three expeditions.  The current American record holder for the most consecutive days in space, Scott is the first American astronaut to spend an entire year among the stars. He has shared the 'wonders of the universe’ in multiple books, including Infinite Wonder: An Astronaut’s Photographs from a Year in Space and, most notably, Endurance: My Year in Space, A Lifetime of Discovery. Since it was first published, Endurance has become a National Bestseller and is currently in production to turn Scott’s fascinating journey among the stars into a feature film.

Scott joins me today to discuss his latest children’s book, Goodnight, Astronaut, and how he hopes it will inspire more children to dream big. We discuss the wonders he has experienced in space, the unusual places he’s slept - both on Earth and in space - and the places Scott dreamed of visiting upon returning to Earth. He shares a sneak peek into the book, what it was like to watch his twin brother, Mark Kelly, get sworn in as a U.S. Senator, and the lessons he has learned from his mother about perseverance. He also shares the best piece of advice he has ever received and the planets he would like to visit if he could go back into space.
