Families and Alzheimer's with Dr. William Justiz

Dr. William Justiz, MD, is a Neurology Specialist in Naples, FL.  Dr. Justiz has more experience with Sleep Disorders, Headache, and Neurodegenerative Disorders than other specialists in his area. In addition to being a doctor, he also contributed to the neurologist section of the book "Surviving Alzheimer's with Friends, Facebook, and a Really Big Glass of Wine." Dr. Justiz is Dayna's brother-in-law, and they both lost their moms to Alzheimer's.

In this episode, Dayna talks with Dr. William Justiz about what families need to do when recognizing a loved one's memory issue. They discuss why trust between neurologists, the patient, and family is so important. They provide ways to help deal with family members that are in denial about the problem. Dr. Justiz also clarifies what Alzheimer's medicine is and why it's not a cure. He also discusses how dealing with his own mother's Alzheimer's helped him and affected his approach with patients.
