A 7-year-old boy has been found dead in his garage washing machine hours after his parents reported him missing to the police.
In the early hours of July 28, Troy Khoeler was reported missing from the 4400 block of Rosegate Drive in Birnamwood Subdivision. About an hour and a half after the Harris County Constable reported Khoeler missing, he was found dead.
In a press conference, Harris County Lt. Robert Minchew said. Police were called by Khoeler's parents just after 5 a.m. They reported their son missing, and there was a possibility he had been missing since 4 a.m. Police took information for a missing persons report, then searched the house, finding Khoeler inside an appliance in the garage.
As a result, the constables called in the Harris County homicide detectives, who took over the investigation.
Khoeler was adopted by Minchew in 2019 after being a foster child. Minchew said it was 'standard procedure' to detain his parents and speak to them separately.
According to Minchew, "Whether he was killed by the washing machine or killed and placed in it, we are so far from that."
Later, he said, "We don't know what happened, but we intend to find out."
