#2 – From WV TOURISM – From ponds to creeks to rivers, West Virginia is an angler’s dream. While West Virginia is home to all types of fishing, fly fishing in fall in West Virginia is especially popular.

The Mountain State is home to a wide array of trout species, including rainbow, golden, and brook, attracting anglers from near and far. Visit some of Almost Heaven’s 20,000+ miles of streams and 100+ fishing lakes to experience fall fishing like you’ve never experienced.

For trophy trout, visit Harman’s Luxury Log Cabins when stocking happens in early September, and at the beginning and middle of October and November. 

Visit Stonewall Jackson Lake for bass fishing, known for some of the best bass fishing in West Virginia. Visit www.wvtourism.com or www.wvstateparks.com to learn more about great fishing destinations in Almost Heaven.

#3 – From THE HISTORY PROJECT –  Each year West Virginia harvests 2.7 million bushels of apples to be the 9th largest producer of the fruit in the nation. The varieties native to the state are among the most popular in the world and they and the growing industry are the special fruits of the man who many think is simply a legend, but was a real, live man whose influence set the course for the Mountain State’s apple growing industry.
