#2 – From NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC – If you’ve never visited West Virginia, or if you have out-of-state friends who’ve never visited here, National Geographic magazine presents a handy guide to everything you need to know about the Mountain State’s rushing rivers, Appalachian hikes, and historic cities.
Why you should visit: How about towering mountains. Rushing rivers ideal for whitewater rafting (one of National Geographic’s top 20 Best of the World travel adventures for 2024). America’s newest national park. Appalachian cuisine and folk music.
Plan a visit in spring. Late April through May, yellow trout lily, purple larkspur, and other wildflowers frame hiking paths in destinations like Canaan Valley Resort State Park, New River Gorge National Park and Preserve and Cacapon Resort State Park. It’s also ramps season, when the foraged wild onions headline on restaurant menus, at the Ramps and Rail Festival in Elkins, and even in allium-forward wine.

#3 – From NEWS & SENTINEL – Two iconic West Virginia brands — Mister Bee Potato Chips and Tudor’s Biscuit World — have joined forces to offer a new biscuit-and-gravy-flavored potato chip.
A portion of the sale of every chip bag will support the work of Make-A-Wish West Virginia.
The Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia chapter is one of the most active in the country, having fulfilled more than 21,000 wishes. The Mountain State offices of the 40-year-old organization are located in Charleston and Morgantown.
Tudor’s Marketing Manager Elizabeth Epling said, “Our company operates in four states now but our heritage originated in Charleston, and we have a strong commitment to our loyal customers and our philanthropic partner, Make-A-Wish. There is no greater privilege than helping grant meaningful wishes for children who are fighting critical illnesses.”
The new Mister Bee Biscuit and Gravy chips are available at area Walmart, Kroger, Go-Mart, Par Mar stores and Piggly Wiggly stores.
