It’s the Year of the Tiger... It’s the thrill of the fight, rising up to the challenge of our rival! Now that you have that earworm for the year, listen to today’s KITM with David Waldman and Joan McCarter and contract ”brainworms”! (It’s more fun than it sounds.)

We begin Black History Month, this year with dozens of bomb threats and book burnings like the old days.   It’s gotten so that the US has become the world’s cautionary tale on preventing authoritarian takeovers. Donald Trump continues couping up a storm, promising to pardon insurrectionists that he had abandoned in jail earlier, in order to rile up future insurrectionists he’ll abandon in the future, while assembling Mike Pence’s second set of gallows. Could we re-impeach Trump, and maybe do it right this time? Hasn’t anyone else figured out this sort of problem?   Speaking of executions, Donald ordered three different federal departments to execute his order to seize voting machines but could find no one that was into just following orders. Trump would also regularly tear and chew up documents. His handlers would wait for him to calm down and lumber off, then would tape things back together.   Yes, it was already not legal to attempt to overthrow democracy through a phony electoral count, but sometimes you have to “build a wall” to keep those determinedly evil out. Just don’t expect Republicans to help you build it.  Susan Collins will of course compromise, by reelecting Donald Trump. Biden and the Democrats have enough to occupy their time than to be stalled by malarky. In Florida, Republicans are simply refusing to allow a Democratic state representative to take his seat until his session is over.   There is still COVID, and people still need to take precautions, or they will catch COVID.
