New Games With Gold has been announced for the month of January. For the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S NeuroVoider and Aground will be available. NeuoroVoider will be available between the dates of January 1st to the 31st and Aground will be made available between January 16th to February 15th. Via backward compatibility Radiant Silvergun and Space Invaders Infinity Gene will be made available through Games with Gold. Radiant Silvergun will be available January 1st through the 15th, and Space Invaders Infinity Gene will be made available January 16th through the 31st. Don’t forget if you are a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber you also have access to these Games With Gold deals.

Ed Nightingale with Eurogamer reports that EA killed a Harry Potter MMO. Via an interview with Twitch Streamer The Real Brandolorian, Kim Salzer, EA’s director of marking from 2000-2003 said this when asked about a game that was never released, “A big one for me, because I was so personally involved in it, and it’s such a huge IP that has lived on is an online massively multiplayer game for Harry Potter,” she said. “We did all the research, we had the beta built out, it was a combination offline/online experience where we’d actually mail stuff to the kids, like prizes and ribbons and stuff like that,” she continues, “Thoroughly researched, very confident in the success of this. But it was killed, for lack of a better term, because EA was going through changes at that time and they just didn’t know or believe enough that that IP would have a shelf-life longer than a year or two.” At the time EA held the video game rights to Harry Potter, but Warner Bros now owns those rights.

Tom Ivan with VGC reports that Playstation Plus games for January have been revealed before Sony’s official announcement. According to Dealabs user billbil-kun, who has previously correctly leaked PS Plus games before, Deep Rock Galactic and Dirt 5 for the PS5 and PS4 and Persona 5 Strikers for the PS4. These games will be available to claim January 4th. Deep Rock Galatic is a 1-4 co-op FPS, which was released for the PC and Xbox back in 2020, but will be coming to the Playstation next month. December’s PS Plus games will be available to claim until January 3rd, which include Godfall Challenger Edition for PS5 and PS4, and Mortal Shell and Lego DC Super Villains for just the PS4.

William D’Angelo with VG Chartz reports that the Xbox Series X is outpacing the Xbox 360 is sales. Both consoles launched in the month of November, the 360 in 2005 and the Series X|S in 2020. Over its lifetime the Series X|S has been expanding the gap between how many units its sold and the 360 has sold at this point in its life. Though the Xbox 360 did end up selling over 80 million units, the Xbox Series X|S is pacing better than the 360. Over the last 12 months  the Series X|S has expanded its gap by over 2.5 million units. In total it leads the 360 by nearly 4 million units. The Xbox Series X|S has sold a total of 9.8 million units since launch and in that same point since its launch the 360 sold 5.94 million units.
