In this episode Pastor Shine Thomas takes us through Acts 1:1-3.

Important points to keep in mind:

The author of this book is Luke the physician. The former book of Luke is the Gospel of Luke. Luke's Gospel describes the life and ministry of Jesus.

Jesus inaugurated and did the work of the Kingdom of God.

What can we understand from Acts 1:1-3?

* Jesus began the work of the Kingdom of God

Luke 10:9 "Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’"

In the book of Acts the author Luke describes the continuation of Jesus' work. The work of Jesus continues today through the church that carries out its mission empowered by the Holy Spirit

* We are to continue the work of the Kingdom

Matthew 28:19-20 "19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

* Jesus has given us an unchallenged message

Acts 1:3  "After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God."

The gospel of Jesus is unchallenged. The gospel has life, and over the centuries it still lives on.

* The passion of Jesus is the force of the Gospel

Acts 1:3 (AMP) "To them also He showed Himself alive after His passion (His suffering in the garden and on the cross) by [a series of] many convincing demonstrations [unquestionable evidences and infallible proofs], appearing to them during forty days and talking [to them] about the things of the kingdom of God."

The force behind the message of the gospel is the passionate love of God.

The Acts of the Apostles is the continuation of the work of Jesus by His disciples who were empowered by the Holy Spirit.
