How does taking your dog for a morning walk result in a podcast episode. When you see the early morning papers being delivered by an adult driving around dropping of news papers in people's driveways. Back in the day, newspaper delivery used to be the domain of paper boys and girls. It gets one to thinking, besides delivering news papers, what were some of the ways that kids made money. Also, what other changes to kids jobs have occurred over the decades (other than adults taking over the newspaper delivery business). This episode will cover some of the ways kids get money both earned and not earned. Babysitting challenges like whether or not sleeping on the job is ok and where in the job description does it say that having a bag of dog poop thrown at you is included? Allowances, tutoring, janitorial work and career preparation jobs are also discussed. Given the wide range of jobs available to kids, not all opportunities are discussed. The hope is that listening to this episode will inspire memories from your own experiences about the benefits and drawbacks of childhood jobs.
