I say it in the interview and I'll say it again here, Ryan Muthiora lived the DIII dream. After picking up golf competitively at 16 years old, Ryan knew he wanted to play in college. What could be better for a hungry but relatively raw talent than a DIII school?

What drew Ryan to Kenyon was the mixture of academics and an opportunity to play in the starting lineup from the beginning. It's safe to say that it turned out in his favor. With a strong head on his shoulders and a deep belief that he could one day become a great golfer, Ryan cut his scoring average by two strokes every year. His senior season was one to remember as he was selected to compete in the NCAA tournament for the first time and named a Ping First Team All-American.

After graduating, Ryan kept his amateur status for a year to let his game develop by competing in events with lower entry fees. Ryan turned pro early this year and had his first Q-school experience shortly after. As he was preparing for another opportunity at the Mackenzie Tour Q-school in Canada the Coronavirus hit. Ryan is using his glass-half-full mentality to look at this time as an opportunity to keep working on his fundamentals.

In this episode, Ryan shares what was keeping him busy before he discovered golf, how his deep belief in himself has led to his rapid improvement, switching coaches for the first time, and I learn that "death bed" meditation is a real thing.
