Co-hosts of the “D3 Glory Days” podcast Stu Newstat ‘14 and Noah Droddy ‘13 were teammates at Depauw University and both are still immersed in the world of running. When they aren’t podcasting, Stu works as an assistant coach for the Amherst cross country and track & field teams, and Noah is busy training and recovering as a professional runner in Boulder, Colorado.

After graduating, Stu served as an assistant cross country coach and recruiting coordinator at Lake Forest College from 2015-2017 and then spent two years assistant coaching at DePauw. Although his life as a coach keeps him busy, Stu still finds time to train and has set his own goals for running.

If you’d like to find out more about Noah’s journey to becoming a pro runner, I highly encourage a quick google search. He has a truly remarkable story. A great D3 runner but not the best ever, Noah believed in his potential enough to take the leap and at 25 began his journey towards professional running. Now a top marathoner in the US roughly five years after his big decision to pursue running, he is proof that it’s never too late to chase a dream and see how far you can go.

I really enjoyed this conversation with Stu and Noah because they’ve both found ways to pursue what they love. Running is a sport that you can do your whole life (barring injury of course) and it’s so great to see them both running and building a community around the bond that is D3 running.

Check out their podcast D3 Glory Days on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. You can also find them on Twitter @D3days and Instagram @d3_glory_days. I’m sure Noah and his sponsors would also appreciate a follow on Instagram @noah_droddy or twitter @IBuiltTheArk. You can find us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook @D3toPro.

In this episode, Stu, Noah, and I discuss:

The D3 running experience Noah’s incredible pro story Whether runners give up their dreams too soon What they’ve taken away from the athletes’ they’ve interviewed on their podcast D3 Glory Days Stu’s coaching message, what Noah has learned on his pro journey, and much more!
