Ellen J. Green has written a book called Murder in the Neighbourhood about America’s first recorded modern day mass shooting in 1949 in Camden, New Jersey. The gunman was Howard Unruh, a war veteran who killed 13 people from his neighbourhood including three children, in just 12 minutes. It rocked the state and the nation. Sadly it wasn’t an anomaly and mass shootings have continued.

Ellen is a therapist at a maximum security prison and encounters the tragedy of violence every day. Murder in the Neighbourhood is her first non-fiction book.

Murder in the Neighbourhood is published by Thread Books and Hachette.
