Matt Pattison talks to design researcher Nate Petre, who has teamed up to make PPE for frontline NHS staff, direct from London tech hub Makerversity.

Nate Petre has a diverse design background. He was an ex researcher at Imperial College’s Dyson School of Design Engineering specialising in Digital Disruptive Manufacturing, and backed by funding from Nasa, Petre developed the world’s first fully compostable 3D-printed surfboard. Since then he has developed ways to print boards from beach and marine plastic.

So when the coronavirus pandemic started to take hold, we connected about the potential for Printed PPE. Six weeks later, we catch up again to discuss what has happened since we first connected to talk about helping out.
