Does life exist beyond the confines of our planet?  In 1950, Enrico Fermi conducted a thought experiment where he estimated the number of habitable planets in our galaxy and concluded that the galaxy should be teaming with life.  However, no sign of life had been observed despite our search for it.   This became known as the Fermi Paradox.  In this episode we discuss possible solutions to the Fermi Paradox as the first of several steps on our journey to search for new life in the universe and the possible avenues humanity may be able to transverse as we seek it out.
