Dan speaks with Maddie Salamone (@madsal15) who is a former Duke lacrosse player and a current athlete advocate who spoke at the Sports Lawyer Association conference in Atlanta this year. (12:16) Maddie discusses ways that the NCAA model can change for the better and the pressing need to focus on student-athlete mental health awareness. The NCAA must start to actually put the student-athletes first. Dan and Maddie also give some advice for law students as they graduate and enter the job force.

Dan and Landis are joined by Steve Simmons who is the co-founder of @NilPartners and a former D1 rower at Colgate University. (49:30) Steve talks about the biggest issues in college sports surrounding transfer portals and how the collectives with NIL are impacting student-athletes. Steve also discusses the impact and pressures that NIL is placing on athletes to succeed, epecially in the context of mental health.
