Being a woman of color in tech isn’t so much about the label; Shonna Dorsey tells us it’s really about embracing who you are as an individual. And as an individual, she likes to take risks and tackle challenges, unafraid of failure. As the Sr. Business Systems Consultant at Mutual of Omaha, Shonna is known for making things happen. Under the guise of innovation and fearlessness, she pushes projects along, manages people, and gets things done.

Outside of work, she uses the same resourcefulness to impact her community. During this COVID-19 season, she’s brought her own friends and family together through art. She commissioned her friends’ children to create artwork for her loft to help them find meaning in the mundane and beautify her home. She has a social worker instinct for engaging others and bringing together multiple community resources to find solutions to help anyone in need.
