Welcome back to the Coaching Call podcast My guest today is Kerry Marraffino A.K.A. The fit mama, On a beautiful day Kerry found herself as a Mother of 2 small kids - one of them a newborn.  In her words - I had no energy, was tired all the time and still had about 35 lbs. of baby weight to lose. I didn’t recognize my body or myself anymore. It was as if someone had extinguished my vibrancy, and I was struggling to hang on and hope I got a shower each day. Before I went back to work from maternity leave I hired a really expensive personal trainer. He helped and got me started in the right direction but as soon as I went back to work I was exhausted trying to purely function and stopped working out consistently.


Workouts once a week were not getting me to my goal. Fast forward to 5 months later when I was still feeling drained, out of shape and not believing my body was ever going to recover. My husband could tell I wasn’t happy with myself. I’m sure it wasn’t easy living with me. He suggested I try CrossFit which I did. I swear after the 2nd class I came home and told him that I was afraid I would collapse on the side of the road and no one would even miss me or send out a search party. They were a bad fit but I had my excuses ready. I told him it wasn’t the exercise for me UNLESS a CrossFit gym opened up closer to our house. Three months later that is exactly what happened. I was driving home and saw the sign in what seemed like neon, flashing letters. Ever get a sign from the Universe that smacked you upside the head? This was it! I stopped and when I found out that the first 2-weeks were FREE I told myself I was an idiot if I didn’t give it a shot and committed to at least 2 weeks. This gym was different and I finally found my community. That doesn’t mean that I didn’t have a tough time. Boy did I struggle and want to quit and cry and give up on myself.
