Dr. Kreitenberg resides in Orange County, California. He is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, actively teaching and publishing research. Drawing on mechanical engineering training, he holds 16 US Patents, including UV disinfection devices for sports balls, aircraft, produce, surgical suites and spacecraft. He was a finalist in two NASA Astronaut Selections.

He maintains membership in the Aerospace Medical Association, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Sports Medicine, and the Association of Professionals in Infection Control. He co-founded Dimer LLC in 2014 to research, manufacture and sell UV disinfecting machines.

The company has been recognized as a NASA iTech award winner, a Time Magazine Top 100 Inventions of 2020 and an Innovation Award from the International Ultraviolet Association. Dr. Kreitenberg learned the importance of a sanitary environment well before medical school from his father, who was a plumber and often pointed out that plumbers have saved more lives than doctors through sanitation.
