Morning Focus Listener Highlights Drinking Awareness Ahead of June Bank Holiday

Motorists can expect to see an increased Garda presence on the roads this weekend.

The RSA and An Garda Síochana have launched their June Bank Holiday Weekend road safety campaign.

They are urging both drivers and motorcyclists to be more cautious on the roads this bank holiday weekend and into the late summer months.

There is extra enforcement on the roads across the country until 7am on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, a Morning Focus listener wants to highlight awareness around excessive drinking, ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.

Josie O’Brien, from Roslevan, knows only too well about excessive consumption of alcohol and the negative impact it can have.

Josie struggled with alcohol for many years, but now – thankfully – has been sober for many years.

Josie joined Alan Morrissey in studio to share her story, in the hope that it can be of comfort or even inspiration to other Morning Focus listeners.
