THE RETURN OF THE ARCHONS: Cinemondo Explores Star Trek

The Cinemondo Lawgivers gather on Planet Backlot to discuss a strange episode called THE RETURN OF THE ARCHONS and all hell breaks loose.  Many ideas are presented, and many questions remain.

It’s the one where the people on planet Beta III in the C-111 system have a strange system of government overseen by a mysterious religious figure named Landru. They all seem like peaceful and friendly citizens of an oddly earth-like town/planet when suddenly at 6PM, they all go completely bonkers for 12 hours of unhinged violence. Landru apparently gives them this time of lusty inhibition to make up for all the worshipful obedience. But is that a good way for the folks of Beta III to live? Can the intrepid members of the Enterprise landing party intervene and deprogram the cult of Landru? And is this a good episode of Star Trek, or one of the few that don’t quite live up to the rest?
