From director Denis Villeneuve and adapted from Ted Chiang's novella Story of Your Life, the plot centers around Louise Banks (Amy Adams), a professor of Linguistics. Her life is quickly upended as she is recruited and tasked by the United States Military to decipher and decode an alien language as 12 starships land all across the Earth.
