MacGuffin!

It is a term that is bandied about by part-time film lecturers and self-styled academics, but what is it? A term popularised by Alfred Hitchcock, the MacGuffin is the sometime incidental 'thing' that the characters in a film desire, need or are in search of. Adam and Darrell put aside their quest for the Maltese Falcon and run down the 39 steps to get to the bottom of the legendary MacGuffin.
