Paul, who endured imprisonment, beatings, and ultimately martyrdom for preaching the Gospel, viewed his sufferings as insignificant compared to the future glory promised by God. As believers, we will face varying degrees of suffering, but this pales in comparison to the glory awaiting us. When Jesus returns, His glory will be revealed to us, and we will receive glorified bodies reflecting God’s glory. Creation, affected by mankind’s sin, eagerly awaits the revelation of God’s children, which will bring relief and order. This anticipation is likened to a mother’s labor pains, which, despite the intensity, culminate in joy with the birth of her child. The Holy Spirit within us is the firstfruits of this promise, giving us a glimpse of our future in Christ. As adopted children of God, we are joint heirs with Jesus, awaiting the fulfillment of our hope with patience and eager anticipation.
