Do you really understand the importance of the written word?

Writing has saved my life over and over again and I’m devoting this podcast to helping you understand how it can save yours too.

If you stopped right now and considered how often you write in a day, what would come to your mind? Would your initial thought be, “I don’t write, I am not a writer”; or, “hmmm, maybe I write more than I think?” That to-do list? The series of texts sent in communication with a friend? How about that thought scribbled on a sticky note to revisit? Whatever the case, you write.

Writing quite often is designated for “writers.” Those who know what they are doing. The ones who may have authored a book or two in their time. The experts in the field. Much like reading, many of us can take it or leave it. We have developed an understanding of what we believe writing to be and are fine to do without it. But what if you, too, are a writer? What if the act of writing is more significant than you think?

Navigating the ebb and flow of life has its challenges. Life confronts us in many ways and those moments of confrontation shape our stories, contributing to how we perceive our life, how we function daily, and ultimately what we imagine of ourselves as a result. The idea that writing can somehow help self-perception would be far from the minds of many people. However, when we choose to pour our stories out on paper, the written word has a more significant impact than what might be imagined.

In this podcast episode, I am talking to Allison Fallon, the author of The Power of Writing It Down.  Allison and I dig deep into the real stuff of writing. Not grammar or sentence structure but writing as a practical process for adding meaning to life. While much is to be said about the ins and outs of writing, Allison explains how the process of writing can provide clarity, change outcomes, and add value to our lives.

Friends, this is an episode you do not want to miss. Though it may seem counterintuitive, this episode is for you, especially if you don’t consider yourself a writer. And if you do consider yourself a writer, I believe that you will be encouraged, enlightened, and informed.
