Are you living your most authentic life? Have you found yourself struggling to see growth and lessons learned in your current season? Do you feel that the negative sides of social media may be holding you back from being your best self?

If any of that speaks to you, you’re going to want to grab a seat and listen to this conversation with my friend, Jamie Ivey. Jamie and I always seem to pick up right where we left off as if no time has passed since our last conversation. This chat is no different.

I think it’s safe to say that none of us imagined that we’d be entering the final quarter of 2020 with masks on and standing six feet away from others. However, it is our reality and we can’t let the lessons of these moments, or any other seasons in our life, slip away from us.

In Jamie’s latest book, You Be You, from cover to cover, Jamie invites you in to a conversation on satisfaction and success from right where you are. The book emphasizes us women taking the time to bloom where we are planted. This year in particular has provided the perfect landscape to do just that.

Jamie points out that It’s often in our toughest seasons, expected or unexpected, that we grow the most and develop into the version of ourselves that God has called us to be. We have to take hold of what’s around us and plant ourselves into our situations and surroundings.

I know many of you may feel uprooted or unsettled instead of planted. Well, Jamie and I discuss that too. Truth is, it’s usually easier to reflect and see our growth than to see it while it’s happening. Even if you’re feeling unsettled or uprooted, trust that God is preparing you for great things to come and equipping you to handle what you’re facing. Jamie reminds us that being stubborn is not the answer for blooming where you’re planted. Instead, your blooming comes from what God is birthing and refining inside of you and you don’t want to miss that.

Throughout whatever may be going on in your life, remember that you are designed for community. Social media can offer just that, however, it can also offer a breeding ground for comparison, envy, and jealousy. In this episode, Jamie also talks strategies and the responsibility we have for guarding our hearts, and teaching our children to do the same, when we are on social media. Comparison is not the goal. Community is.

As you push through the remainder of this year, I hope this conversation shifts your perspective allowing you to see the opportunities that are around you in your hard seasons. I hope this conversation encourages you to use each of your days well finding joy in even the smallest of moments. I hope this conversation pushes each of you to just be you.
