Christmas Journey Ch. 1: The Lord Announces Messiah’s Birth Through Abraham The purpose for Christmas was declared by God to Abraham. The supernatural Seed promised to Eve in the garden, will be supernaturally born into Abraham’s family line. All the nations of the world will be blessed through the Seed, the Messiah.
The Christmas promise is not just the birth of Jesus — it’s also what He came to do for us! God told Abraham to leave the donkey and put the wood on Isaac’s back, and Isaac submissively and willfully carried the wood to the place of sacrifice. Isaac let his father bind him and place him on the wood. The Seed, the Messiah Jesus, carried the cross of wood on His back to the place for sacrifice, and Jesus is the ram who willfully took our place on the wood. And like Abraham, who considered that God would have to raise Isaac from the dead to keep His word, Messiah Jesus knew He had to be raised from the dead for all the promises to be fulfilled.
