As much as God's Word is alive, so is the prayer offered up to God in this letter to the Colossian believers. It is a beautiful and blessed gift from heaven that believers today are included in this prayer. This prayer is alive because it contains the essence of God's will for his people. God will see to it that, as we follow him, we will be led deeply into what he wants for us. And what God wants for us is his will.
Paul wrote, "We have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding" (Colossians 1:9). Notice the word "all" nothing lacking. The more we bow and yield our lives to God's will, the more this prayer will come to life in our lives. Blessing will be sure to follow.
