Freedom is a God-send. God sent Jesus. Jesus said, "The truth shall set you free." Those listening to him didn't understand, "We've never been slaves to anyone. How can you say that we shall be free?" (John 8:31-33) What is it about human nature that can look the Son of God right in the face and claim to know more than he knows? It is because our fallen human nature makes us all slaves to sin.
Freedom is a God-send. God sent Jesus. What is impossible for us, is possible for God. God saw to it. Jesus came to set us free from the crushing burden of slavery to the holy law that we cannot keep. Jesus took our place on the cross to pay the just price for our sins. Jesus will set anyone free who bows to him. This is the heart of the good news, the gospel.
