Most all of us are susceptible to discouragement. At one time or another we may have suffered from the "I'm-all-alone" syndrome. There is probably nothing worse than the discouraging thoughts that enter our minds when we feel that we are all alone in the midst of life's struggles. It is during these times that we need to lean, not on our own feelings, but on God's Word.
God himself said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Jesus said, "I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20). Jesus said, "I will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth" (John 14:16). We have a triune promise of help and encouragement. The disciples had just experienced the horrendous events surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus. Yet, God’s grace revealed what was God’s plan all along.
