Genesis 45: 1 - 15; 25 - 28; 46: 1 - 4

This is the second time Roydon has preached this sermon. The first version of it can be found at www.christchurchmidrand.co.za/portfolio-items/4-providence-over-the-promise/ in video and audio format here.

We all know what a promise is. We all make them. However, due to human fault, not all promises can be trusted. Through advertising, through friends and family, we have all been given promises for something better and many times, they simply are not. What about God’s promises?

The story of Joseph’s life is God showing that when he makes a promise he keeps it. God had a promise for his people which he set out in Genesis 12, before Joseph, and while that promise seems at stake in Joseph’s life, God eventually pulls through. The world, the flesh and the devil will try distract us from trusting in God’s promise, but whatever he promises, nothing can be better than the promise of God.
