In the story of Joseph’s exaltation (Gen 41) we learn that God exercises Providence over power. He humbles the proud and exalts the humble to bless the nations. He does that supremely through the humiliation and exaltation of Christ. God’s providence over power in Christ changes everything. It means we don’t have to fear earthly power. It means that heavenly power works through our weakness. It means the purpose of power is to exercise it in service of others. Praise God for his providence over power!
