In episode 13, Dr. Hoye speaks with Dr. Ryan Dump, Psy.D., a Chicago-based psychologist who founded a group practice, Resilience Psychological Services. He is also the founder of Therapy Road, an online community of therapists in Chicago. Ryan explains his transition from South Dakota to the big city living, his process of becoming a psychologist and therapist, and his road to opening a group practice. They both observe the difficulties men have struggling with mental health issues and the dearth of men in the behavioral health world. They also tackle issues of diversity, and the problems therapists face as they work at marketing themselves to a broader public and making psychotherapy more widely available. It's a warm and engaging talk.
