Georgia's film tax credit program is reportedly causing a financial loss for the state, according to a recent evaluation by the Department of Audits and Accounts. The study aligns with other state findings on film tax incentives. These results come as state lawmakers prepare recommendations on tax breaks as economic drivers. Despite wide support in certain sectors, skepticism remains, with $4.1 billion in unclaimed tax credits. Critics argue that the money could be better spent elsewhere, such as lowering income tax rates. The report also notes that for every $1 of net labor income supported by the film tax credit, $24.44 in credits are generated.
