Dr. James Goldgeier is without a doubt the most decorated guest in the history of Chasing Interesting. He is a Professor of International Relations and served as Dean of the School of International Service at American University from 2011-17. He is also a Robert Bosch Senior Visiting Fellow at the Center on the United States and Europe at the Brookings Institution.

Dr. Goldgeier has spent his career studying democracy and America's role in the world. He started studying the topic as a graduate student in the shadow of the Cold War and continued as he started his professional career in the early 90's after the USSR dissolved.

He chats with Craig Hoffman about how America's role has evolved over time and how the current decline democracy in the United States plays out in foreign policy on a world stage. Plus, how we fix democracy in America and the ways in which multiple actors can help save it.
