Introducing a new segment of the Chapter One Podcast called, Highlighter. These short episodes will occasionally be featured in the weeks between our normal author episodes, and will ‘highlight‘ literary companies and organizations that are contributing to the writing community. In this episode, we’ll be speaking with Tamika Newhouse of the AAMBC, which stands for African Americans on the Move Book Club. It was created in February 2008 by a then twenty-year-old, Tamika Newhouse. What started as an online book club grew into a national phenomenon, and the first annual AAMBC Literary Awards ceremony was launched in 2009 in San Antonio. Tamika will be talking with us about the upcoming 10th anniversary red carpet awards event in Atlanta, GA, which begins on June 8th through the 10th.
