In this episode, we seek to gain a better understanding of what drives certain young Muslim men living in Western societies to risk it all in traveling to Syria to fight the Assad regime.

I talk with Amer Deghayes, a Libyan born British foreign fighter who traveled to Syria in 2013, ultimately ending up with the jihadist rebel group Jabhat al Nusra. We cover a lot of ground, including the reasons that compelled him to fight, his role in the conflict now, and his assessment of the reality in Idlib province today.
