On this episode, we talk about the crazy history of the land down under, Australia. First, we review and discuss the new movie from writer/director Jennifer Kent called The Nightingale starring Aisling Franciosi and Sam Claflin. It's a tough movie to take, exploring the violent, dark history of Tasmania through the eyes of an Irish convict who has everything taken from her. Then we get into an Australian film from 2005, a modern western take on the outback and keeping law and order amidst the harsh hell that is the Australian desert in The Proposition starring Guy Pearce and Ray Winstone among others. And finally we talk about a film from director Nicholas Roeg in Walkabout, which experimentally explores the intersection of two British children abandoned in the outback by their mentally-crazed father and an aboriginal teen on his ritual walkabout.
