In the early morning hours of September 1, 1985, Dr. Robert Ballard and his team on board the Woods Hole ship R/V Knorr, made maritime history with their discovery of the long lost wreckage of the RMS Titanic. The find stunned the world and made Dr. Ballard a household name over night.
