Psalm 139:13-16

OUTLINE
1. Life is a gift beyond comprehension
• Psalm 139:14 – We are “remarkably and wondrously made...”
• Genesis 1:26-27 – God created humans in His own image.
• Theological term=Imago Dei (Latin “Image of God”)

2. Life is a gift when we know our identity

3. Life is a gift - don’t waste it
• Psalms 139:16 - “All my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began.”
• Matthew 6:27 - “Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying?”
• Ephesians 2:10 - “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”

4. Life is a gift when we live-out our purpose
• God reiterates our identity.
• God created each of us with good works to accomplish for His glory.

5. Life is a gift from God for God’s glory
• God’s glory is the goal of all this, not my satisfaction.
• He is glorified by the joy we experience in His wonderful creation, when things are as they should be.

6. Life is a gift from God to be shared with others
• God is triune, three-in-one.
• God is an eternal community, and when He created us in His image, we were made for community.
• God likens us to His body, many parts all working together to accomplish His good will. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

APPLICATION

1. Research the gift of life
a. Look up laminin
b. Take a hike
c. Watch a sunrise
d. Appreciate the cell
e. Read the Psalms

2. Reflect on your identity in God
a. Ask others to speak truth

3. Reflect on your purpose
a. How am I glorifying God?
b. Who is God calling me to bless?
c. What are my gifts?
4. Refocus
a. How have I become too egocentric?
