Accepting the Call

This six-part series is called “David: Turning Points”.  I did this series seven years ago, but I want to repeat it because 2021 will be a turning point in my life, and more importantly, for Central Christian Church.  For six weeks, we look at turning points in the life of King David.  David is called a man after God’s heart, not because he was perfect, but because he had a heart for God.  By studying turning points in David’s life, some positive, some negative, we can learn how to face turning points in our lives. 

Lesson #1 (January 1 & 3, 2021) – Accepting the Call                                             
Text: 1 Samuel 16:1 – 13
David was just a shepherd boy when first called by God.  This is the first sign God wanted to do something special in David’s life.  We see Samuel anoint David, and some lessons about God’s call in our lives

God’s call comes to secular tasks and spiritual roles.                     
God’s call often comes unexpectedly.  
God’s call comes to ordinary people.                              
God’s call often comes simply, not dramatically.
God’s call usually comes gradually.             
God’s call may come to you repeatedly.
