It seems there’s a constant pull between the DOing side of life – pursuing accomplishments, achieving goals, getting things done… and the BEing side – appreciating the moments, recognizing the beauty in the present, soaking in special opportunities. Most of us tend to lean, usually somewhat strongly, one way or the other. Is it possible to accomplish big things and achieve high level goals… while simultaneously being fully present? And how does the balancing act between the two change throughout the various decades of our lives?

Today’s guest – Bob Hottman - encompasses that delicate balance. He recently retired – or as he calls it – graduated – from an extensive career as CEO of a national accounting firm, serves on a plethora of company boards, and is active with a range of associations and community organizations. Yes – he’s one of “those people,” accomplishing more in a day than most of us do in a month – or two months for that matter. And yet I’ve seen him in multiple settings and he’s legitimately enjoying the moment. Maybe he’s just a good actor, but whether he’s guiding a high-profile corporate merger or out cycling with friends, he’s the same guy. We’ll dig into his mindset and approach to life in our discussion.

Additionally, many of our listeners are considering life transitions right now, from job changes to retirement. We’ll also explore the practical elements of this “next mountain mindset” during our conversation.
